Turnips have become a very fashionable baby vegetable and Turnip 'Atlantic' looks very appealing with purple tops (that grow above ground), and white bases (which grow below ground). The roots are round but slightly flattened and they are very sweet when harvested as baby veg (about the size of a large radish). They taste delicious when roasted in a little olive oil and the thinnings can be used as 'greens' and so can the leaves when harvested a few at a time - they will re-grow.
It is a purple top Milan type and is suitable for growing all year round protect winter crops with cloches.
This is a fast maturing variety about 6-12 weeks that is resistant to bolting and is ideal for planting in containers. Sow regularly through spring, summer and autumn to get a continuous supply. August-September sowings will be ready as green tops in spring.
Turnips are brassicas so grow them in the brassica bed for crop rotation purposes.
Approx 400 seeds per pack.
