Par-cel is part of the celery family but although it tastes like celery it looks like parsley. Par-cel is sometimes known as ‘leaf celery’ or 'cutting celery'.
It is a biennial that is generally used as an annual as it runs quickly to seed in early spring of the 2nd year, however it can be cropped over winter if kept under protection.
Par-cel is used like an herb to add the salty celery flavour to soups, stews & stocks. It is great fresh or dried.
Approx 900 seeds per pack.

How:
|
Sow seed in seed trays/modules & just cover lightly with compost. Water carefully. Germination takes between 10-21 days at 21°C. When seedlings large enough transplant into 7.5cm pots and grow on in cooler conditions. Finally plant outside when plant has just begun to fill the pot, 30cm apart, after a period of ‘hardening off’. Late summer sowings do best in pots that can be kept inside in winter.
The seeds can also be sown 8 seeds per module and planted out in a clump, 20cm apart or in a pot. The stems will just be thinner but still full of flavour.
